Maersk Resumes Liquidation of Russian Subsidiary

Published

Maersk is back on track to fully exit the Russian market by resuming the liquidation process of its Russian container shipping subsidiary, Maersk LLC (St. Petersburg). This follows an initial attempt in 2022 that was later cancelled in June 2023.

The decision to resume liquidation aligns with Maersk’s formal cessation of Russian operations last year. All employees were dismissed through mutual agreement in February 2023, and the company divested its key assets in Russia. Regulatory filings show that Maersk LLC had no revenue for 2023 due to inactivity caused by the liquidation process.

This move signifies Maersk’s ongoing commitment to withdrawing from Russia in the wake of the ongoing war in Ukraine. The company is finalizing steps to fully dissolve its Russian subsidiary.
