The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) reports that the new 50% U.S. tariffs have negatively impacted several sectors in Andhra Pradesh, including aqua, textiles, agri products, and auto components. With a major share of India’s exports going to the U.S. , the AP Chambers is urging the central government to take measures to diversify exports to other countries to reduce this dependence. They are also requesting the government to reinstate export subsidies, provide better access to working capital, and reduce import duties on raw materials to make Indian products more competitive internationally.
Additionally, the AP Chambers has requested the Andhra Pradesh government to release long-pending incentives , some of which have been pending for five to six years. The Chambers is also advocating for a reduction in fuel and power charges in the state, which are currently higher than in neighboring states. They have also submitted a detailed representation to both the central and state governments to improve the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) by reforming outdated fire, pollution, and building norms, and by extending the validity of NOCs with a self-certification option.
