Ocean Network Express (ONE) has achieved a new world record in container shipping with its vessel, the ONE Innovation. During a port call in Singapore, the vessel loaded a historic total of 22,233 TEUs, marking the largest container load ever recorded on a single ship. This accomplishment surpasses a previous record of 22,000 TEUs set by the same vessel in December 2023, further cementing its place as a leader in cargo capacity.
The ONE Innovation, a 400-meter-long “Megamax” vessel delivered in 2023, is one of the largest ships in ONE’s fleet and is part of a series of six 24,000 TEU-class mega-ships. Following its record-breaking departure from Singapore, the ship is now sailing on the Asia-Europe (FE4) route, with a scheduled stop in Felixstowe before continuing on to Rotterdam. This record not only highlights the operational efficiency of both the vessel and the port of Singapore but also underscores ONE’s commitment to optimizing its fleet.
This milestone is a testament to the ongoing evolution of the global shipping industry towards larger, more efficient vessels and the strategic planning required to manage them. The record also highlights the crucial role of modern, highly capable ports like Singapore and Felixstowe, which are equipped to handle the massive logistical demands of these ultra-large container ships. The achievement reinforces the industry’s focus on maximizing cargo per voyage to improve efficiency and reduce emissions per container.
