Apple’s Record iPhone Manufacturing and Exports from India

Published

Apple Inc. achieved its highest-ever export value from India in November, shipping iPhones worth $2 billion. For the first eight months of the current financial year (FY26), the tech giant has exported a total of $14 billion worth of iPhones from the country. This surge coincides with India becoming a key growth market for the company, with domestic sales reaching a record $9 billion in FY25.

India’s role in Apple’s global ecosystem has expanded sharply, with one in every five iPhones manufactured globally in FY25 being assembled in India. Local manufacturing now contributes 12% of Apple’s global production value. For the first time, Apple also began the local assembly of its high-end iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in the country.

CEO Tim Cook noted that India set an all-time revenue record in the September quarter, driven by robust iPhone sales. While Indian sales account for approximately 2% of Apple’s global revenue, the country is increasingly vital as a production hub for shipments to the Americas and other international markets. To support this growth, Apple is continuing its retail expansion in the region, including the opening of new physical stores.
