India-US Trade Friction – Tariff Negotiations Postponed

Published

Trade relations between India and the US have hit a roadblock following the US Supreme Court’s ruling on executive tariff powers. While some reciprocal tariffs were initially removed, the US administration’s move toward a flat 10-15% import tax has created new friction. Consequently, the Indian negotiating team has indefinitely postponed its Washington visit. Indian steel and aluminum exporters continue to face 50% tariffs, making a short-term trade resolution unlikely as both nations re-evaluate their economic strategies.
