Seafarers Stranded: Crisis for Indian Crew in Conflict Zones

The Indian National Shipowners Association (INSA) has reported that 27 Indian vessels with full Indian crews are currently caught in the active conflict zone. Following reports of casualties in the Gulf of Oman, maritime unions are demanding immediate diplomatic intervention to ensure safe passage. Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is reportedly in talks with international maritime bodies to create a “safe corridor” for merchant vessels caught in the crossfire of drone and missile attacks.
