With several West Asian airlines suspending their operations, the air cargo sector is facing a massive backlog. At major hubs like Chennai and Mumbai, over 450 tonnes of perishables and textile cargo are uncleared. Exporters are struggling with mounting demurrage charges as cargo remains stuck at terminals. Since many Indian exports to the West move through Dubai and Doha hubs, the suspension of these flight paths has created a structural bottleneck for time-sensitive goods.
