The ongoing conflict in West Asia has dealt a severe blow to basmati rice exports from Madhya Pradesh. Major destinations such as Iran, Iraq, Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia have seen a complete disruption in arrival schedules. The All-India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA) reported that massive consignments are currently stuck at Indian ports, making it impossible for regional exporters to fulfill international orders on time. This deadlock is causing significant distress among local industrialists who rely heavily on these specific Gulf corridors for their annual turnover.
