Defying severe international trade disruptions arising from geopolitical conflicts in West Asia and tariff pressures, India’s total exports achieved a historic milestone by scaling an all-time high of $863 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26. Commerce Ministry figures reveal that India’s export volume has nearly doubled over the past decade, driven heavily by key engineering goods, advanced electronics, petroleum products, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. On a domestic level, Gujarat emerged as the undisputed economic powerhouse, single-handedly contributing nearly $110 billion to the national export pool. To sustain this momentum, the central government has unveiled an Export Promotion Mission backed by a ₹25,600 crore outlay spanning up to 2031. Furthermore, Gujarat’s operational Special Economic Zones (SEZs) crossed a landmark ₹3 lakh crore trade threshold, accounting for a massive 21% of the entire country’s SEZ outbound trade.
