India and UK to Implement Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)

Published

Trade Ministers from India and the UK are set to meet in London to finalize the implementation mechanisms for the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Double Contribution Convention (DCC), both scheduled to take effect on July 15, 2026. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will lead high-level discussions from June 25–27 to align regulatory frameworks, streamline cross-border customs, and review tariff liberalisation commitments designed to enhance market access for Indian exports. The DCC will provide a crucial social security exemption for eligible temporary workers, saving roughly 20% of salaries and benefiting over 60,000 Indian IT professionals. Additionally, Minister Goyal will engage in government-to-business roundtables with major global corporations, including HSBC, Rolls-Royce, and JP Morgan, to secure strategic investments and expand industrial manufacturing partnerships within India.
