While lowering import tariffs offers initial advantages, technical regulations and non-tariff barriers continue to restrict market entry for key export sectors including medical devices, food products, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. Leveraging established domestic schemes, such as EIC seafood approvals, APEDA organic certifications, and BIS standards, can secure reciprocal international recognition. Aligning regulatory frameworks sector-by-sector ensures Indian exporters avoid duplicate testing procedures, reduces compliance costs, and enhances long-term competitiveness across global value chains.
