Ahead of the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong hosted a high-level Indian delegation led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. The discussions focused on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across key growth sectors including advanced manufacturing, digitalization, sustainability, and cross-border connectivity. Singapore remains India’s largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), contributing $19.8 billion in FY 2025-26 and bringing cumulative inflows to $194.68 billion since 2000. Meanwhile, Japan reported record export figures of 11.51 trillion yen ($73 billion) in July due to strong auto and semiconductor shipments. However, soaring energy import costs following Middle East supply disruptions and a weak yen pushed Japan into its third consecutive monthly trade deficit of 634.5 billion yen ($4 billion).
