An Assocham-Global Research report projected that Indian exports to BRICS nations could reach $200 billion by 2030, fueled by expanding trade in engineering, pharmaceuticals, electronics, renewable energy, and digital services. The report emphasized that as total intra-BRICS trade grew from $203 billion in 2020-21 to $417 billion in 2025-26, India’s robust economic growth rate of over 7% positions it as a key growth driver within the expanded bloc. At the BRICS Business Forum opening session, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal pressed member states to address non-tariff measures, open service markets, and establish mutual recognition agreements for professional qualifications to lower overall export costs. Goyal showcased India’s UPI ecosystem, now functional across 11 countries, as an essential digital architecture for modernizing global digital commerce. Furthermore, as final ratification processes for the landmark India-EU FTA gather momentum in Brussels and New Delhi, both regions aim for full operationalization by early 2027, establishing a resilient alternative framework for global economic integration.
