The guidelines issued by the Brihanmumbai Custom Brokers Association (BCBA) define the evolving professional scope, regulatory responsibilities, and value-added services performed by licensed Customs Brokers (CBs). Today, Customs Brokers are no longer limited to routine document filing; they have transformed into knowledge-based professionals who manage complex digital platforms (EDI, SWIFT, Faceless Assessment) and various import monitoring systems (SIMS, PIMS, CIMS). The primary objective of this framework is to educate trade partners, importers, and exporters about the true extent of a CB’s operational duties and the additional resources required.
