Indian steel exporters have secured potential duty-free market access for up to 2.8 million tonnes of steel annually into the European Union ahead of the formal implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. This mechanism includes a guaranteed country-specific quota of 1.9 million tonnes alongside residual quota pools, insulating over 80% of India’s steel exports from the EU’s stricter 50% out-of-quota tariffs. Simultaneously, in response to West Asia transit complications, Oman’s Sohar Port and Freezone has emerged as a vital supply chain hub connecting Indian businesses to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). To handle quadrupled feeder vessel traffic between India and Oman, Sohar Port is actively negotiating with Indian logistics operators and captive berth suitors for terminal expansions. Furthermore, shifts in global automotive preferences have enabled India’s utility vehicle exports, including SUVs and MPVs, to outpace traditional passenger cars for the first five months of FY27. Driven largely by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, utility vehicles surged 23% year-on-year to 203,582 units, accounting for 56% of total passenger vehicle shipments from India.
