Andhra Pradesh Drives Investment Roadshows as DCIL Expands Fleet and Pulse Exports Rise

Published

Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh spearheaded a major promotional roadshow in Gujarat to attract private investments for the upcoming CII Partnership Summit, promoting cluster-based industrial growth and targeted incentives across quantum computing, data centers, and renewable energy sectors. Meanwhile, the Visakhapatnam-based Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) successfully bounced back into profitability during FY 2025-26, recording a total income of ₹1,214.10 crore and announcing an ambitious ₹3,560-crore expansion program to acquire 11 new dredgers over the next five years. In agricultural trade, India’s pulse exports witnessed a five-fold growth over the past decade, with recent shipments exceeding 4.94 lakh tonnes valued at $452.27 million in the April–July period, highlighted by the maiden export of Karnataka’s GI-tagged Kalaburagi tur dal to the Maldives. Concurrently, the Union Cabinet is set to approve a revamped Model Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) framework that significantly reduces the waiting period for foreign investors to initiate international arbitration from five years to one year after exhausting local remedies. However, the proposed BIT model strictly preserves India’s sovereign authority by excluding domestic taxation laws and judiciary jurisdictions from treaty-based dispute mechanisms.
