India Joins US-Led Anti-Overcapacity Compact and Saudi Arabia Eyes Strategic Investments in Ports

Published

India has officially joined a 14-nation coalition led by the United States to address market-distorting industrial overcapacity and non-market policies in global steel, aluminum, and green technology sectors. This strategic alignment aims to shield domestic manufacturers from predatory global supply surges while promoting transparent supply chains. On the investment front, a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia expressed strong interest in funding major port infrastructure, green hydrogen terminals, and logistics parks across India’s maritime corridors. The prospective Saudi investments align with India’s Sagarmala initiative, which seeks to modernize port infrastructure through foreign direct investment and private-public partnerships.
