Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) completed its $750 million Phase II expansion of the Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT), doubling its handling capacity to 3.2 million TEUs. Inaugurated by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, the fully automated deep-water facility can now berth three ultra-large container vessels simultaneously, securing its position on the East-West trade corridor. The terminal had achieved a historical benchmark by handling 2 million TEUs within its first 18 months of operation. On the trade policy front, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) welcomed the Indian government’s decision to extend the RODTEP tax rebate scheme until December 31, 2026, to preserve global competitiveness for exporters.
