In the textile sector, the Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) urged the permanent removal of the 11% import duty on cotton to curb price volatility and level the playing field for Indian manufacturers. Capping the regional developments, Odisha’s High-Level Clearance Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved 27 major industrial proposals worth ₹2.47 lakh crore. Spanning across 15 districts, these high-value projects cover mega AI data centres, semiconductor facilities, power plants, shipbuilding yards, and green energy infrastructure, creating over 50,000 potential jobs.
