To reverse two decades of stagnation in global apparel exports, where India holds a 3% market share compared to Bangladesh’s 9% and Vietnam’s 6%, a new study advocates for a comprehensive ecosystem strategy focused on scale, competitive capital, labor skilling, MMF spinning, and integrated PM-MITRA parks. In Tamil Nadu, DP World’s 125-acre Integrated Chennai Business Park (ICBP), the company’s largest Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in India, has seen occupancy rise from 10% in 2024 to 66% in 2026, with an expected 20% cargo throughput growth in FY27. Operating on a “One Port, One Zone” model, the facility utilizes SEZ regulatory benefits, simplified customs procedures, and over 66 value-added services to optimize supply chain efficiency. Furthermore, the FTWZ enabled exporters to classify stored goods as “deemed exports” during West Asia freight rate spikes, protecting cash flows and solidifying Tamil Nadu’s trajectory toward its $1 trillion export target.
