Baltimore Port on the Mend: Limited Access Restored, Full Recovery by May

Published

The Baltimore Port is steadily recovering after a bridge collapse disrupted commercial shipping activities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is leading the restoration efforts, aiming to provide some relief by the end of April.

According to the plan, a limited-access channel will be operational by the end of April. This will allow smaller cargo ships to enter and exit the port, easing some of the congestion caused by the bridge collapse. However, larger cargo ships will still be unable to access the port until a wider and deeper channel is constructed.

The good news is that full restoration is expected by May. The Army Corps is working diligently to complete the permanent channel, ensuring the Baltimore Port can resume its full capacity. This will be a significant development for the East Coast’s transportation hub, minimizing the economic impact of the bridge collapse.
