Over time, the clearance framework has become vastly more complex, requiring brokers to handle tasks well beyond routine filing, such as coordinating with participating government agencies, complying with allied laws, managing digital platforms, facilitating scanning procedures, responding to repeated queries, and overseeing post-clearance documentation. These evolving responsibilities demand significant extra manpower, specialized expertise, extended time, and additional financial resources. Following a formal legal consultation with M/s. Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan, BCBA formulated guidelines along with a detailed Annexure outlining specific non-routine service heads. The association strongly urges importers, exporters, manufacturers, and trade bodies to recognize these additional professional efforts and appropriately reimburse the corresponding operational expenses, thereby ensuring fair trade practices, transparency, and mutual understanding.
