High-level diplomatic engagements are reshaping India’s economic footprint, beginning with Swiss President Guy Parmelin’s three-day state visit to New Delhi to review bilateral cooperation and celebrate the first anniversary of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). Simultaneously, India and Canada commenced the fifth round of negotiations in Ottawa for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), aiming to wrap up talks by the end of 2026 to boost trade across pharmaceuticals, steel, and electronics. Meanwhile, global trade patterns reflect significant shifts as tariffs and geopolitical tensions force companies to diversify manufacturing footprints, positioning Southeast Asia and India as major beneficiaries of global supply chain realignments. Amid these shifts, the Water Transport Work-ers Federation of India urged immediate diplomatic and safety measures to protect Indian seafarers navigating high-risk conflict zones like the Red Sea, Black Sea, and Strait of Hormuz.
