Biota Coorg FPC eyes market linkages in Australia to export coffee

Published

Biota Coorg Farmer Producer Company, a Kodagu‑based collective of 122 small and mid‑sized growers, is seeking Australian partners to boost coffee exports. During a visit by Steven Connolly, Deputy Consul‑General of Australia in Bengaluru, Biota CEO K. K. Vishwanath proposed virtual cupping sessions and marketing tie‑ups to lift sales beyond the roughly 80 tonnes exported last year.

Half of Biota farms are already Rainforest Alliance‑certified, and the rest are pursuing certification, making the beans compliant with forthcoming EU Deforestation Regulation standards. The group currently ships to the US, Canada, the UK and several EU countries and aims to top 100 tonnes of exports this season while building a Kodagu‑centric retail brand.
