Shipping giant CMA CGM has announced changes to its service network connecting India, the Middle East, and Africa. The aim is to provide more reliable and efficient cargo transportation across these regions.
Here’s a breakdown of the key changes:
- India-Middle East-South Africa: The MIDAS 1 service will now include Coega, South Africa, in its rotation, offering a faster route for shipments between India and South Africa. This service is also tailored to meet the needs of the citrus export season.
- South Africa: Durban will be the sole port of call in South Africa for the MIDAS 2 service. Meanwhile, Pointe des Galets will be transferred to the new KARIBU service. For access to Port Elizabeth, a dedicated feeder solution departing from Durban will offer weekly connections with faster transit times.
- Replaced Services: The HAX service will be discontinued and replaced by the fully CMA CGM-operated weekly service, KARIBU. Additionally, the NOURA service will see adjusted routes to provide faster transit times for dedicated Mozambique, Somalia, and Seychelles markets.
The revamped services will be implemented with immediate effect. MIDAS 1 will now operate with 10 vessels, each with a capacity of up to 5,700 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit).
