DG Shipping’s Strict Mandate – Direct Relief for Exporters

Published

The Directorate General of Shipping has issued a strict circular to terminal operators regarding the immediate passing of relief measures to exporters. It was observed that concessions like waived detention charges and ground rent were being handled via a “circuitous” reimbursement process, causing significant delays. The regulator has now ordered that all benefits must be passed on directly and transparently to freight forwarders and NVOCCs, who must then reflect these savings to the exporters. This move aims to provide immediate financial liquidity to the trade sector during the ongoing West Asia crisis.
