Edible Oil Import Duty Cuts, Adani Ports FY27 Growth Strategy, and Strategic Advantages of India-New Zealand FTA

Published

To tackle rising food inflation during the upcoming festival season, the Indian government reduced import duties on crude palm, soy, and sunflower oils, dropping crude sunflower oil duty to zero. On the corporate front, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) is riding a strong recovery wave in FY27, backed by major volume surges in August and international port consolidations like Australia’s NQXT and Colombo terminal. Analysts remain bullish on APSEZ as it expands its marine fleet, rail networks, and warehouse footprint to reach a target of 1 billion tonnes in capacity by 2031. Furthermore, the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, set to take effect on October 20, provides a masterclass in how smaller trade deals can protect domestic exporters against global tariff volatility. Under this agreement, India secured 100% duty-free access for its key exports while successfully safeguarding sensitive domestic sectors like dairy, alongside winning key visa concessions and a $20 billion investment commitment over 15 years.
