To tackle the severe shortage of LPG and crude oil in India, the government has granted exceptional security waivers to two Iranian-linked vessels, ‘Aurora’ and ‘Jaya’. These tankers, which were previously under scrutiny due to US sanctions and age-related safety norms, have been allowed to dock at Mangalore port on a case-by-case basis. This strategic decision was made to ensure the continuous supply of cooking gas to the domestic market, prioritizing national energy security over international regulatory pressures during this emergency period.
