Despite the onset of peak summer and the subsequent rise in electricity demand, India’s power sector remains in a strong position. The Ministry of Coal confirmed that as of April 14, thermal power plants across the country are holding a comfortable inventory of approximately 55 million tonnes. This stock is sufficient to ensure 24 days of uninterrupted power generation, even if supply chains face temporary hiccups. Furthermore, domestic coal production has recorded a year-on-year growth of nearly 5%, ensuring that the country’s self-reliance strategy is effectively shielding the energy sector from the ongoing West Asia crisis.
