Indian exporters are experiencing a massive influx of international orders ahead of the global holiday season, marking a strong operational rebound compared to the previous year. Domestic textile and apparel exporters reported a 30% to 40% surge in orders from the United States for Christmas and New Year deliveries, while processed food manufacturers saw a 20% spike in ready-to-eat products and traditional sweets ordered across Europe and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Diwali. Key GCC markets, including Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain, demonstrated high demand for traditional Indian items like dry fruits, ghee, basmati rice, savouries, and spices. Overall exports of processed ready-to-eat foods rose 16% to $2.4 billion in FY26. Despite booming seasonal demand, exporters highlighted operational hurdles, including elevated ocean freight rates, persistent container shortages, custom inspection delays on perishable items, and ongoing US Section 301 tariff uncertainties, prompting international buyers to spread order volumes across multiple regional suppliers.
