Published

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada announced that the government is committed to boosting exports and strengthening the competitiveness of Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through free trade agreements (FTAs), Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, and logistics infrastructure improvements. The government has already signed FTAs with Australia and the UAE and is close to concluding one with the U.K. this year.

Prasada stated that these initiatives aim to enhance India’s manufacturing capabilities and export potential. He also highlighted significant investments of over ₹1 lakh crore in PLI schemes across 14 sectors, which are expected to boost production and create jobs. These schemes are projected to help India’s exports surpass ₹15 lakh crore by 2026-27, making it the world’s second-largest mobile manufacturer.
