India plans to curb imports of Vietnamese steel products

Published

India’s Commerce Ministry has taken steps to protect its domestic steelmakers by introducing anti-dumping duties on certain flat-rolled steel products from Vietnam. This move is aimed at curbing the import of cheap Vietnamese steel, which has hurt Indian producers like Tata Steel and JSW Steel.

According to the article, India’s imports of hot-rolled coil (HRC) from Vietnam have more than doubled in the last two years. The new duties, which will be in place for five years, are expected to create a level playing field for domestic producers and encourage domestic investment in the steel sector.
