Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a strategic virtual meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Trade Minister, Majid bin Abdullah Al Qassabi, to discuss the stability of bilateral trade. The primary focus was on the recent disruptions in regional supply chains caused by the joint military actions in the West Asia region. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to fast-tracking the India-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations, which is seen as a long-term solution to trade volatility. The Indian government also highlighted specific domestic measures being taken to support exporters who are struggling with delayed shipments and increased logistical costs in the Gulf region.
