Indian Coffee Exports Projected to Surpass $2 Billion in 2025

Published

India’s coffee exports are on track to exceed $2 billion in value for the 2025 calendar year, marking a significant milestone that has more than doubled in value over the last five years. This surge is largely driven by high global coffee prices resulting from severe supply constraints in top-producing nations like Brazil and Vietnam. As of mid-December, shipments have already reached $1,968 million, a 21% increase over the previous year.

While the value of exports has reached record highs, the actual quantity of coffee shipped has seen a decline of approximately 6%. This volume drop is attributed to some European buyers shifting to more affordable origins as Indian robustas and arabicas continue to command high premiums over international terminal prices in London and New York.

Despite the lower volumes, the unit value of Indian coffee has risen sharply, reaching an estimated $4,67,074 per tonne in 2025. India currently stands as the world’s fifth-largest exporter of coffee, with its primary export destinations being Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Russian Federation, and the UAE.
