India’s $10 Billion Smartphone Export Boom Led by Apple Ecosystem

Published

India achieved a record-breaking performance in its smartphone exports, reaching nearly $10 billion ($9.84 billion) in the first quarter of FY27, representing a 23.4% year-on-year growth compared to $7.97 billion in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. This rapid expansion was significantly driven by Apple’s manufacturing ecosystem in India—where key manufacturing partner Foxconn Hon Hai recorded a 48% year-on-year surge in exports in 2025, and Samsung posted a 4% increase. The United States remained the largest destination for Indian smartphone shipments, receiving 64.8% of India’s total electronics export basket (which hit $15.2 billion overall). This surge underscores the growing impact of the “Made in India” initiative and positions Apple as the single largest branded exporter across all product categories in the country.
