Industrial Shutdown: Gujarat’s Ceramic Hub Faces Crisis as Fuel Supplies Dwindle

Published

The ceramic industry in Morbi, Gujarat, is on the verge of a total collective shutdown scheduled for March 15 due to the disruption of natural gas supplies. Major suppliers have begun issuing ‘Force Majeure’ notices, making it economically unviable for units to continue production without fuel certainty. The industry, which is already struggling with a complete halt in finished goods exports to the Middle East, is now facing its toughest period since the pandemic. Industry leaders have urged the state government to allow coal gasifiers as a temporary alternative to prevent a total economic collapse of the region’s manufacturing base.
