Construction at Kakinada Gateway Port Limited (KGPL) in Thondangi is moving at a fast pace, with developer Auro Infra aiming to complete Phase 1 by December 2026 and bring its first berth operational by the end of the year. Designed as one of India’s deepest ports with a 20-metre draft and a total capacity of 120 million tonnes across 25 berths, the ₹11,000 crore mega-project will feature direct berthing for major liquid, gas, and bulk cargo vessels up to 200,000 DWT. Backed by 1,600 acres in the Kakinada SEZ, a dedicated ₹400 crore rail link, and four-lane Bharatmala road connectivity, the port is positioned as a strategic offshore logistics hub for energy giants like ONGC, GAIL, and Reliance while driving over ₹1.5 trillion in industrial investments and creating 1.5 lakh jobs.
