Published

Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan presented a revised FY27 budget projecting a cumulative deficit of ₹1,504 crore, focusing heavily on transforming the state into a cohesive “Port City” and maritime logistics hub. The state allocated ₹400 crore under “Mission Samudra” to integrate its 600-km coastline, 2 major ports, 17 non-major ports, and extensive road/rail networks. Key projects include infrastructure surrounding the Vizhinjam International Seaport, dry ports, and a dedicated shipbuilding/repair hub. Additionally, road tax for budget electric vehicles (EVs under ₹10 lakh) was slashed from 5% to 3% to encourage sustainable transit, while “Land Reforms 2.0” will introduce a Land Pooling Framework to fast-track land conversion for commercial enterprises.
