In a show of operational resilience, India’s top container gateways, including Mundra and JNPT, have reported steady growth in cargo volumes for the February-March period. Advanced digital integration and AI-driven vessel scheduling have allowed these ports to manage the increased pressure caused by rerouted vessels. Mundra Port, in particular, has seen a surge in transshipment cargo as it becomes a preferred node for vessels avoiding volatile zones. The Ministry of Ports and Shipping is doubling down on “Green Port” initiatives to ensure that this growth remains sustainable and aligned with global environmental standards, further attracting international shipping majors.
