Andhra Pradesh is set to become a premier shipbuilding destination with the development of a massive integrated maritime hub in Nellore district. Spread across 2,000 acres, this ₹10,000 crore project aims to leverage the state’s 974-km coastline to reduce import dependence on ship components. The hub will feature four dry docks, state-of-the-art ship-lift facilities, and an annual shipbuilding capacity of 1.2 million gross tonnage. This ambitious project is expected to attract significant global investment and create a robust ancillary ecosystem, significantly boosting the state’s Gross Domestic Product while enhancing India’s overall manufacturing competitiveness.
