Middle East Oil Exports Rebound in September Driven by Saudi Arabian Cargo Surge

Published

Crude oil exports from key Middle Eastern producers rebounded significantly in September to reach 12.8 million barrels per day (bpd), driven primarily by increased outbound shipments from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. According to tanker-tracking data from Kpler, regional top exporter Saudi Arabia boosted its crude shipments to approximately 5.4 million bpd, marking a sharp recovery from 2.45 million bpd recorded in August. Outflows from the kingdom’s primary Persian Gulf terminal at Ras Tanura jumped to roughly 3.6 million bpd, up from 929,000 bpd in the previous month. The surge in vessel traffic through the strategic Strait of Hormuz chokepoints, supported by operational adjustments and rerouting tactics, has helped stabilize global energy markets and ease supply disruption fears, though total export volumes remain below historical pre-conflict highs.
