National Energy Security: Crude Oil Supply Remains Stable Despite Regional War

Published

Despite the escalating conflict in West Asia, the Ministry of Petroleum has assured that India’s crude oil supply position remains secure. Through a proactive strategy of diversified procurement, the volumes secured today exceed what would have normally arrived through the high-risk Strait of Hormuz. India’s daily consumption stands at approximately 5.5 million barrels, and existing stockpiles are sufficient to prevent immediate shortages. This stability is credited to the quick pivot toward alternative suppliers and long-term supply agreements that were put in place before the peak of the current maritime crisis.
