Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amman, Jordan, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 37 years. He held delegation-level talks with King Abdullah II, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening ties in trade, fertilizers, and digital technology. Economic cooperation is a major focus, as Jordan is a primary supplier of phosphates and phosphoric acid essential for India’s agriculture. Fertiliser imports from Jordan exceeded $1 billion in FY 2024-25. The visit also aims to improve infrastructure at the Port of Aqaba, which serves as a logistical hub for India’s connectivity to the Mediterranean.
