The North Coastal Andhra Pradesh region is set for a major administrative upgrade as the jurisdiction of the Visakhapatnam Customs zone expands to include five key districts. This restructuring will be officially triggered by the inauguration of the Bhogapuram International Airport, which features advanced technology-driven passenger processing systems. Principal Commissioner N. Sridhar confirmed that the new ecosystem will include improved staffing, surveillance, and a fully digital operational path to manage increased cargo and passenger flow. Despite global trade headwinds, Visakhapatnam Customs has already surpassed its revenue targets, recording a growth rate of nearly 8% in the current financial year.
