The government is significantly enhancing regional connectivity by fast-tracking the development of coastal shipping routes and multimodal logistics parks under the Sagarmala Project. This strategic shift aims to move a substantial portion of cargo from congested road networks to more efficient sea and inland waterways, effectively lowering overall carbon emissions and reducing national transport costs. In Southern and Western India, new jetty projects are being prioritized to ensure the seamless movement of perishable agricultural goods and industrial raw materials between regional production hubs and major international ports. These integrated logistics hubs, equipped with advanced cold-storage facilities, are essential for maintaining the quality of exports and strengthening India’s supply chain reliability for global markets.
