Strong Export Performance and Port Asset Recovery Amid Transshipment Scrutiny

Published

India’s exports to key Free Trade Agreement (FTA) partners experienced significant growth in the first quarter of FY27, with outbound shipments to Singapore and Sri Lanka more than doubling, contributing to a total export figure of $129.32 billion. Further boosting India’s trade profile, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) units registered estimated IT and ITES exports of over ₹7.73 lakh crore in FY26, representing a 21.56% increase. In infrastructure management, the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority in Kolkata successfully reclaimed 15.56 acres of encroached land across 24 parcels through an ongoing eviction drive, reducing the total encroached area to 159.8 acres. Meanwhile, New Delhi rejected White House allegations that India is being utilized as a corridor for rerouting Chinese-linked goods into the US market to evade tariffs, reassuring that Indian customs laws and rules of origin remain robust.
