Supply Chain Disruption: Force Majeure Hits 25% of India’s LNG Imports

Published

India’s natural gas supply has been significantly impacted by the maritime traffic disruption, with nearly 47.4 MMSCMD of imported LNG affected by ‘Force Majeure’ conditions. This accounts for a substantial portion of the country’s daily gas consumption of 189 MMSCMD. To offset this shortfall, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has confirmed that two LNG cargoes have been procured from alternative sources and are currently en route to India. While domestic production remains steady at 97.5 MMSCMD, the reliance on volatile import routes continues to pose a challenge for the industrial and fertilizer sectors.
