India’s textile and garment sectors are scaling up production capabilities to achieve a collective national target of $100 billion in textile exports by 2030. Tiruppur, recognized as India’s knitwear capital, achieved its highest-ever performance by generating ₹46,000 crore in exports during the fiscal year, accounting for nearly 60% of India’s total knitwear exports and employing over one million people. Concurrently, the Karur Textile Manufacturers and Exporters Association celebrated its golden jubilee, highlighting that 70% of the region’s home textile fabrications are now actively exported to premium consumer markets in the US, Canada, and Europe. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh emphasized that India’s expanding network of 56 Free Trade Agreements provides a unique landscape to outcompete regional manufacturing rivals.
