Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Expansion and August Auto Exports Surge

Published

Greenbase, the industrial and logistics parks arm of the Hiranandani Group, has announced a massive expansion plan involving an investment of ₹2,000 crore over the next two to three years. This capital will be deployed to establish approximately five million square feet of industrial and warehousing infrastructure across Chennai. The expansion features a 55-acre park in Arani near Red Hills, designed specifically to cater to industrial and renewable energy clients, alongside another 160-acre development at Palur. Nationally, under its Greenbase 2.0 program, the company aims to develop 9–10 million square feet with an aggregate outlay of ₹3,400 crore, with more than half centered in Tamil Nadu. Concurrently, India’s automotive sector recorded robust performance as total vehicle exports jumped 22.2% year-on-year in August 2026 to reach 6,81,338 units, compared to 5,57,446 units in August 2025. This strong export trajectory was primarily driven by the two-wheeler segment, which grew by 28.5% to 5,55,292 units, led by a 33.4% surge in motorcycle shipments. Conversely, passenger vehicle exports registered a 17% decline to 68,230 units due to West Asia geopolitical and supply disruptions, although utility vehicle exports maintained steady long-term momentum.
