The Union government has decided to grant tariff concessions for the import of Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles (DDGS), a key animal feed component, from the United States. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh clarified that these imports will be governed under a strict quota system to ensure that domestic farmers are not adversely affected. This move comes as part of the broader India-US trade deal finalized in February 2026, aiming to meet the rising domestic demand for high-quality animal feed. By implementing a Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ), the government intends to balance the needs of the livestock industry with the interests of local grain producers.
